Those nice people at The Guardian have sampled the wholesome goodness of this site and put it on the linklog!
Between this and the number of times they used one of my devastatingly ascerbic comments on their over-by-over coverage of the summer test matches and their shot-by-shot coverage of the Ryder Cup, I practically work there now.

Tim told me about your travails so I shall be keeping a close interest in your progress...
I can see that pole vaulting may be awkward, how are you going to get a baseball match going? and are you any good on the asymetric bars?
Hi Lord Bargain (is that pronounced in a David Dickenson stylee?) - pole vaulting will be interesting. It worries me slightly that there doesn't seem to me much room for mediocrity there - you either sail through the air like you were born to fly, or you fall to the ground like a stone and look ridiculous as you're doing it. The baseball shouldn't be too much of a problem - from what I hear there is a local team who are constantly trying to find new players, so I'm sure I can persuade them to put me in for a game. As for the asymmetric bars (which the IOC are now calling "uneven bars" for those not ardent enough to run to their dictionaries), fortunately I'm only doing the men's events - so no asymmetric bars, no rhythmic gymnastics and no synchronised swimming.
I do get to do the horizontal bar - and if it's any consolation, I'm sure I will be throwing some pretty asymmetric shapes when I try to twirl myself around it.

It's the madison I want to see (can I compete?)
I doubt either of us will be able to compete in the true sense of the word, but you can by all means join me and take part. I have been vaguely informed that one has to undergo some sort of advance cycling proficiency test before they'll let one loose in a velodrome.
Don't take that as gospel. I just remember vaguely hearing something from one of the commentators while watching the Madison on TV. (While trying to work out what the hell was going on.) Something about contacting the British cycling federation if you were inspired to have a go yourself.
